Our ingredients and suppliers

We make the majority of the food we produce in the UK, sourcing sustainably from British suppliers and farmers wherever we can, such as orchards and dairy farms, to help us create our well-loved products that are enjoyed by generations.

Great tasting products made from quality ingredients

We source a wide range of healthy, natural ingredients for our products, purchasing raw ingredients from a range of suppliers in the UK and from markets around the world. In FY23/24 we purchased over 265,000 tonnes of food ingredients, working with around 245 suppliers, to develop long-term sustainable partnerships which deliver mutual benefits.

Every year we purchase around:

tonnes of tomatoes from Spain and Portugal, for our Sharwood’s, Loyd Grossman and Homepride sauces.

tonnes of Bramley apples from UK orchards, for products such as our Mr Kipling fruit pies

litres of milk from West Country farmers, for our Ambrosia rice pudding, custard and porridge.

Innovating in partnership

To help our suppliers identify where they can add most value and how we can work together for mutual success, we host supplier conferences and other events to share our business plans and growth opportunities. Our research and development team work extensively with our suppliers to help research and develop new products as well as make progress against our Enriching Life Plan objectives.

We also look for suppliers who bring fresh ideas that will help us grow. And in return we seek to build stable, longer-term relationships that benefit those suppliers.

Improving and monitoring our supplier relationships

To continuously improve our supplier relationships, we conduct regular independent, anonymous surveys. They help us benchmark and improve our performance and address any concerns. We also recognise outstanding achievement through our annual supplier awards. We also believe in being transparent on our standard supplier terms and conditions which are available below.

Premier Foods is committed to conducting business with integrity, fairness, respect for our values, and within the law. This commitment also extends to our suppliers. We have a dedicated independent whistleblowing helpline operated by Safecall, which is available to all our suppliers, to enable them to report any concerns or suspicions about any wrongdoing, unethical practice, or criminal acts on the part of any employee of Premier Foods or our suppliers. Further information on how to use the helpline is available on our Governance policies & relationship agreements page, link below.
