Premier Foods receives new SBTi validation for Net Zero targets
Premier Foods is pleased to announce that its near-term, long-term and net-zero decarbonisation targets have now been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets adopt the new Forestry, Land use and Agriculture (FLAG) standards from the SBTi. This demonstrates the importance we continue to place on science-driven measurement and detailed disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions to drive our actions to better address global climate change.
Nick Brown, Director of ESG at Premier Foods says: “We are delighted to now have our updated near-term, long-term and net-zero decarbonisation targets validated by the SBTi.
“The reassurance and credibility of this scheme has provided a mobilising force for our teams and has helped us to reduce our scope 1 & 2 (market based) emissions by 30% since 2020 and our scope 3 emissions by 25% over the same period.“
Premier Foods set its original decarbonisation targets back in 2021 and was pleased to receive SBTi validation for these in 2023.
The new long-term targets for scopes 1, 2 and 3 are all aligned with the ambition to limit climate change to 1.5 degrees in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
The detailed targets can be found here.
