Who we are

We are a company of food lovers and tastemakers, who create food that will be loved today and tomorrow.

We are proud to be British, employing over 4,000 people operating from 13 manufacturing and office sites across the UK. We supply a range of customers including retailers, wholesalers, convenience stores and foodservice customers with our iconic products which feature in millions of homes.

We make the majority of the food we produce in the UK. Wherever we can, we source sustainably from British suppliers and farmers, such as orchards and dairy farms, to help us create our well-loved products. In fact, we have worked with 40% of our suppliers for 10 years or more.

A leading food business

We operate primarily in the ambient food sector, which is one of the largest sectors within the total UK grocery market. We feature in key grocery categories of: Flavourings & Seasonings; Quick Meals, Snacks & Soups; Ambient Desserts and Cooking Sauces & Accompaniments. Within Sweet Treats we operate in the Ambient Cakes category.

In addition, we have a non-branded food business which manufactures products such as cakes and desserts on behalf of many UK food retailers.

FOOD BRANDS LOVED BY MANY

Food for all occasions

Our brands are leaders in their categories with high household penetration and bought by 89% of UK households. We also have a growing international business, with many of our brands enjoyed by consumers across the world.

Expanding our global presence

As part of our growth strategy, we are building sustainable international businesses with critical mass by applying our brand building capabilities to focus markets. These include Australia & New Zealand, North America and EMEA.

Australia & New Zealand

Australia & New Zealand

Australia is our most established international market, where we hold market leading positions in the cake and Indian cooking sauces categories with market shares of 15% and 25% respectively. Mr Kipling, Cadbury Cake, Sharwood’s and The Spice Tailor are all in market and supported by the application of our Branded Growth Model, in the form of New Product Development and TV advertising.

In New Zealand, we have grown the distribution of Sharwood’s, The Spice Tailor and Mr Kipling; Cadbury Cake is sold in Woolworth’s Countdown stores.

North America

North America

We started in the Canadian market and are now present in 1,000 retailer stores with Mr Kipling and over 1,400 with The Spice Tailor.

New listings for The Spice Tailor and Sharwood’s have been achieved in the United States, plus Mr Kipling has been launched in new packaging to emphasise the brand’s unique British heritage. Rate of sale for our product ranges is building.

EMEA

EMEA

In EMEA, our focus is chiefly on Sharwood’s and The Spice Tailor. Distribution of both brands has increased with new listings for The Spice Tailor in France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.

Batchelors has now launched Super Noodles and Pasta n Sauce in the Netherlands, while Cadbury cake has shown strong growth in the Middle East and we are rolling out Mr Kipling across the Emirates/UAE
