Supporting 'Feeding Britain's Future' Schools Programme

Along with others in the food and grocery industry, we're playing our part in addressing the issue of youth unemployment and improving the image of our sector through our support for the Institute of Grocery Distribution’s (IGD’s) Feeding Britain’s Future (FBF) campaign.

As part of this activity, Premier Foods colleagues have been involved in schools workshops, aimed at year 9 and 12 school children, which provide opportunities to illustrate the range of career options available in the food industry and inspire them to want to work in our industry when they graduate. Our CEO, Gavin Darby, even dropped in on a session to share his own experiences.

This term, a number of representatives from Premier Foods, including our HR Director, David Wilkinson, will be attending schools across the country to help facilitate sessions with students to encourage them to think about the world of work before they finish their studies and start the search for a job.

The IGD campaign reached 5000 school children in 2015, and there are plans to expand the programme to 7000 children this year. Volunteers from Premier Foods will be participating in around 50 sessions.
