Hovis helps flood-hit farmers

Hovis has dedicated a lorry to help deliver much needed straw to flood-hit farmers.

The South West of England has been devastated by flooding this month and with farmers struggling to feed their livestock, Hovis has dedicated a lorry to help deliver much-needed straw for feeding. The lorry will be supporting the emergency initiative, Forage Aid, which was set up by farmers and suppliers across the country to donate forage to struggling farmers.

“We are fully committed in supporting UK Agriculture with 85% of our total wheat supplies being grown by UK Farmers,” explained Premier Foods’ Head of Wheat Procurement, Gary Sharkey. “So our support is very much a case of ‘doing the right thing’ in these times of excessive flooding and personal hardship as many of these farms will be facing massive financial challenges.”
