Hovis Glasgow’s Technical Excellence rewarded by Tesco

Our Hovis Glasgow team have been given a prestigious award for Technical Excellence at the recent Tesco Bakery Supplier conference.

Our Hovis Glasgow team have been given a prestigious award for Technical Excellence at the recent Tesco Bakery Supplier conference. The Tesco Bakery Supplier conference forms a key part of the Tesco Bakery’s communication strategy for 2013 and brings together over 100 of Tesco&##39;s own label and branded suppliers with the objectives of providing useful insights into the key opportunities, strategies and issues for the coming year. The conference also provides a useful setting for Tesco to give out a number of awards to their supply base which included best NPD, best supplier, best customer and category supplier and best service supplier.  The winner of the Technical Excellence award was decided by the Tesco Technical team and was announced at the conference, which took place on 24th January at the Tewin Bury Farm Conference Centre. The honour was granted to Hovis Glasgow for their achievement in getting a Blue score on their recent PIU audit.
Hovis Glasgow became our first site ever to achieve this prestigious “blue” status award from the Tesco PIU auditing team after a two day unannounced audit at the bakery in January, which is the highest accolade that a Tesco producing site can receive. Indeed, in achieving the “blue” status, Hovis Glasgow became only the third ever manufacturing operation in Tesco’s current UK Bakery supplier base to ever achieve this status.  The Technical Excellence award from Tesco not only recognises the journey the site has been on from its PIU Red to Blue status, but also is testimony to how well the site has exceeded key customer standards and impressed the Tesco team. Richard Whall. Manufacturing Director, Hovis, expressed how proud everyone was of the win, commenting" We are delighted that Tesco have recognised the Glasgow bakery with the prestigious Technical Excellence award following their Blue PIU. This follows a great deal of hard work and from the Glasgow team with year on year improvement."
