Feeding the future of the UK

We believe in supporting skills training for the next generation. So in September 2014, for the third year running, we supported the Institute of Grocery Distribution’s (IGD) &##39;Feeding Britain&##39;s Future&##39; campaign. This saw all our manufacturing sites help young unemployed youngsters by giving them over 250 pre-employment skills training workshop opportunities, designed to help youngsters &##39;get their first foot&##39; on the employment ladder.

The campaign was supported by local MPs who visited our sites in Ashford, Rugby, Worksop and St Albans. Workshop participants got the opportunity to talk with their MPs about the barriers they faced finding work locally.

In July this year, we also took part in a Feeding Britain&##39;s Future &##39;Schools Pilot&##39; which saw us support schools in the Nottingham area by offering employability skills training to 13 to 17-year-olds.The Schools Campaign will be rolled out nationally next year, helping raise awareness among teachers and pupils about the variety of skills and opportunities available in the food and drinks sector.
