Ashford colleagues support the year of Engineering

Throughout this year, we’ll be supporting the Government's ‘Year of Engineering 2018’ which seeks to promote a positive experience of engineering to young people.

As part of our support, our Ashford site recently invited twenty Year 12 students from the local Girls Grammar School to visit the factory and gain a greater understanding of the measures we put in place for sustainability, to understand career opportunities in the food industry and experience the making of our products for their food science course.

Paul Croucher, Environmental Officer, gave an engaging talk about what the factory is doing around our sustainability agenda, highlighting the success of our recycling initiatives and our tree-planting programme which took place last year.

Paul commented, "The group were really interested in finding out more and asked lots of questions. It is great to be able to show to our younger members of the community that we are a responsible employer and take the impact on the environment seriously."

Karl Seager, our Engineering Standards & Compliance Manager, outlined the vast range of career opportunities in the food business, but in particular engineering roles.
