New magical Mr Kipling Unicorn Slices

From rainbow coloured coffees to glitter adorned stationery, 2017 saw the beginning of the unicorn trend and now consumers can enjoy their favourite Mr Kipling cake with a little mythical magic.

Produced by colleagues at our Carlton factory, the exciting new Mr Kipling Unicorn slices incorporate vanilla flavouring with a mixture of a two colour pink batter, yellow mallow and purple icing.

They’ll be flying into Asda stores in packs of 6 from today, ready to inject excitement into the cake category with a unique pack design of colourful rainbow and unicorn motifs to drive stand out on shelf. Both Sainsbury’s and Tesco will also be stocking the colourful product from March.

Karmel Maletta, Innovation Controller, Sweet, explains a bit more about the launch of Unicorn slices: “Unicorns were one of the biggest consumer trends for 2017, with home furnishings, beauty, food and fashion all being brandished across social media with unicorn inspired designs and colours.

“We know consumers will be attracted to the stand out packaging and be curious to try something that they’ve never seen or tasted before. Mr Kipling’s strength is in small cakes, so pairing this with something fun like unicorn slices, we think will be a big hit with consumers”
