Great success for our Environmental Champions

We're sending a big thank you to our on-site Environmental Champions who have been driving efforts to cut our carbon emissions through the Green Matters scheme, run in partnership with the Woodland Trust.

The partnership means that for every tonne of carbon emissions we reduce, the Woodland Trust pledges to plant 25 sqm on our behalf.

And, as a result of the carbon emissions reductions we’ve achieved this year, the Woodland Trust will be planting almost 12 acres of new woodland across the UK later this year, which will contribute to removing close to 2,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. Combined with last year’s efforts, this means that the trees planted as part of our Green Matters scheme will remove a total of nearly 2,750 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Lee Haughton, Company Environmental Management and Compliance Coordinator shares his pride in the achievement: “I’m extremely pleased to report that we’ve exceeded our environmental targets this year, and want to thank all our colleagues across the business, especially our Environmental Champions, for playing their part. It’s also fantastic to see our Green Matters programme going from strength to strength each year.”
