2014 Awards

The Grocer Gold Award
Logistics Supplier of the Year - Premier Foods
Working in partnership with our logistics partner Jigsaw, we were awarded the Logistics Supplier of the Year award at the prestigious Grocer Gold Awards. The award recognised how we had worked with Jigsaw to remove cost and improve the efficiency and sustainability of our transport operations. By the end of 2014 our joint efforts had helped remove 750,000 road miles, the equivalent of 795 tonnes of C02 emissions
Food and Drink Federation Awards
Scientist of the Year - Andy Walker
Andy from our Premier Analytical Services laboratory in High Wycombe walked away with the Scientist of the Year award at the FDF awards. Andy was recognised for his significant contribution to industrial microbiology, and his work to assist customers and stakeholders throughout the supply chain.
Community Champion - Alice Cavanagh
Factory operative, Alice Cavanagh, from our Moreton site in the Wirral was named Community Champion for her tremendous efforts in supporting our corporate charity Macmillan, and her 20 years supporting her local community. Alice’s hard work was further recognised in 2015 when she was invited to 10 Downing Street to meet Samantha Cameron to celebrate the factory’s support for Comic Relief over the past 26 years.
Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Awards
Supply Management - Premier Foods
A Procurement-led team from Premier Foods was awarded the Supply Management Award for best cross functional teamwork, beating off competition from 11 other companies including Jaguar Land Rover, BAE systems and Britvic. The cross-functional team successfully re-imagined the entire shipper process, resulting in significant savings in packaging, logistics and co-packing costs, as well as commercial and supply chain improvements. Tesco referred to our shipper processes as 'what good looks like' and used us as an example to showcase good practice.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)
Our commitment to continuous improvement in health and safety performance has been consistently recognised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and others. In 2014, building on the success of previous years, our manufacturing sites achieved 6 Gold and 2 Silver RoSPA Awards. A further 3 sites were awarded the prestigious Gold Medal Award for achieving the Gold Medal standard for 5 or more consecutive years.
