Premier Foods believes that corporate charity partnership can bring genuine and lasting benefits to its business, not only improving the public perception of our brands, but also improving our employees’ engagement and motivation.

Our Challenge and Opportunity

We recognise that charity sponsorship, corporate charity donations and community partnerships are driven by more than philanthropic desire; they must also satisfy the needs of our employees, our business and the communities in which our sites are based.

Our Response

Across the year, employees were encouraged to participate in fundraising activities both for our corporate charity and for charitable organisations located close to our manufacturing sites.

We also supported the redistribution of surplus food, which while approaching its sell by date was still good wholesome food which was given to various charitable organisations.

In 2011 we will be supporting our new employee nominated, charity “Help for Heroes” and look forward to reporting progress against our initial target to raise £100,000 later in the year.

Performance in 2010

Across the year our employees gave generously of their time and ingenuity, in raising £445,000 against an initial target of £250,000, for CR-UK.

We were amazed, and proud, of the efforts our employees made in generating this amount of money. It really is a credit to them and we thank them whole-heartedly for all their efforts and a truly amazing result.

In 2010, we once again supported the Royal British Legion “Poppy Appeal” with 4p from every special bag of Hovis “Seed Sensations” sold between 20 October and 16 November being donated to the Poppy Appeal and raising in excess of £100,000.

Employees across all our manufacturing sites got actively involved in the fundraising too, participating in the Royal British Legion’s annual “Pedal to Paris” cycle event, which raised £20,000, and also volunteering as Poppy collectors during the appeal. In addition to this, Poppy collection tins were placed in all Premier Foods manufacturing, distribution and head office sites. In total, we raised in excess of £140,000 towards the 2010 Royal British Legion
“Poppy Appeal”.
