CEO Gavin Darby has recently been appointed as Chair of the Industry Advisory Board for the National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering based at Sheffield Hallam University. Gavin and the Advisory Board will provide strategic input to the Centre of Excellence business plan, helping it focus on industry needs for innovative solutions and skills delivery in engineering. With a looming shortage of qualified engineers in the UK, it’s important that the industry works together with government and academia to develop top qualified engineers for the future. Premier Foods, along with other major food companies, has been a founding supporter of the Centre of Excellence which is being funded by nearly £7m from the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
