Bird's Custard is the original custard brand and with that great home-made taste is a firm favourite with families throughout Ireland.

Bird’s was invented by Alfred Bird in 1937 who inspired by the fact that his wife was allergic to eggs, the traditional thickening agent for custard, used corn flour mixed with milk to form a thick custardy sauce.

By 1843, Alfred Bird and Sons was also producing the newly invented baking powder and by 1895, blancmange, jelly powders and egg substitute were added too. The famous ‘Three Bird’ logo was introduced in 1929, and the company was one of the first to use promotional items, many of which are still avidly collected today.

Today Bird's offers a range of formats from custard powder to the ready-to-serve custard cartons and pouring pots, which are available in original and low fat varieties. Also in the range are the Bird’s Trifle Mixes in Strawberry and Raspberry and Dream Topping.
