Trainee Business Intelligence Analyst - Apprentice
Based in St Albans.
 
We're delighted to offer the opportunity for a Trainee Business Intelligence Apprentice to join our IT function based at our St Albans Head Office. 
 
The successful candidates will:
  • have a general interest in developing a career in the IT industry
  • have at least 5 GCSE’s (or the equivalent) at Grade A*-C, including Mathematics and English
  • have ‘A’ Level ICT
  • be computer literate (ie: knowledge/experience of Microsoft Word packages)
 
This is a 2 year apprenticeship programme role where the successful candidate will work as part of a small team, gaining hands-on work experience combined with day release college study, with a view to growing and developing into a Business Intelligence Analyst.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • To learn and develop expertise in the area of Business Intelligence and Analysis, supporting business users with day to day issues and providing a first level of support for the direction of system resolutions.
  • To provide a 1st level point of contact for BI support issues, to provide effective communications to the business users and work with technical experts to provide resolution in the most cost effective manner.
  • To provide a systems admin function and calendar for the scheduling and support of regular system jobs.
  • To learn the BI tools (Business Objects Analysis, EveryAngle, Web Intelligence, SAP ECC Reporting) and provide day to day business support to gain productivity efficiencies.
  • To supplement support activities with creating and running training courses in the BI tools.
  • To help the BI team extend the power of the solutions with building and supporting a virtual network of Power Users.
  • To provide documentation of the BI tools to enhance and simplify user engagement.
  • To work closely with the BI team/Business Partners in supporting Project developments at various stages of the lifecycle.
 
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
 
  • Must have GCSE English and Maths at Grades A-C
  • Must have ‘A’ Level ICT with a genuine interest in developing a career in the IT industry
  • Must have a ‘can do’ attitude with the commitment to study for the apprenticeship qualification
  • Must be a team player who is willing to be flexible and support other team members
  • Must be computer literate (ie: some knowledge / experience of micro-soft word packages)
  • Must demonstrate personal drive and desire to succeed
  • Must be able to learn quickly, business and technical
  • Must have personal organisation skills and enjoy achieving stretching objectives.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to give good service
  • Must have the aptitude, after training, for providing solutions to technical problems
Must have had some previous work experience, weekends or part time (not industry specific)
