Job description

HR Officer
Based in Ashford, Kent with occasional travel to Andover, Hampshire.
One Year FTC
 
Our Ashford site is where we make a lot of our Batchelors products as well as Angel Delight, Birds, Bisto, McDougalls and Paxo.  It’s also home to a seven strong HR team and due to a secondment they are looking for an experienced HR Officer for a one year FTC.
 
Priority is to support the HR Manager in delivering the site’s One Team Agenda and corporate HR Strategy and to manage the employee relations issues on site as they arise ensuring that the people processes are delivered effectively, legally and professionally.
 
Key duties and responsibilities…..
 
  • Conduct disciplinary investigations, hearings, grievances and capability reviews in line with site policy
  • To support the HR Manager to sustain the partnership with the unions in order to negotiate changes to working practices as quickly and as smoothly as possible
  • Work closely with the Occupational Health Advisor to ensure consistent application of our Maximising Attendance Policy and assist in the management of long-term sick colleagues
  • Have a clear understanding of Bradford Factor reporting and be able to advise Managers as appropriate
  • To advise line managers on site policies and support performance improvement discussions where required.
  • Partner with Managers to influence decisions in line with HR policy, practice and site objectives.
  • To develop and up-date HR policies in conjunction with the HR Manager
  • To support the recruitment and selection of non-graded colleagues and engineers/ operators including assessment centres working closely with the HR Administrator
  • To be point of contact for our temporary agency labour force, through direct reports, ensuring that the relationship is maintained
  • Work with the HR Manager to implement the engagement survey, analyse the results, create an action plan and drive completion of the action plan
 
Experience and qualifications needed……
 
  • Qualified to Associate/Chartered level of CIPD
  • At least two years’ experience in a generalist HR role
  • Significant experience in Employee Relations
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • IT literate
  • Analytical ability
  • Ability to lead and influence initiatives to final conclusion
  • High degree of confidentiality
